Shoot at Sight order in Orissa District

  • India

Mob Wars

Its a dark and gloomy day for the residents of the Kandhamal district of curfew torn Orissa as a shoot at sight order was issued earlier today.

The order was issued in the wake of large scale violence in the Kandhamal district - a large crowd of people armed with sticks and crude weapons indulged in arson and violence defying curfew restrictions.

Some of the horrors of the mob war - 14 people died in an attack by an angry mob, including one being burnt to death...two persons were critically injured ...former DGP John Nayak was attacked by another gang... a pregnant woman fled to forest along with her family members.

The spark was triggered after Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Laxmanananda Saraswati was murdered on Saturday night.

12 platoons of Orissa State Armed Police have been deployed in tension-hit areas.
